Ventilated Mezzanine Roller Shutter – Brisbane

A mezzanine opening solution keeping personnel safely out of the way, but letting forklifts and air in? Solved.

A workplace health and safety audit identified an issue with the sliding gates for mezzanine forklift loading access. When the gates were open while forklift’s loaded or removed product, there was an unprotected drop of approximately six metre’s. The solution had to allow for forklifts to load or remove product while preventing personnel access. It also needed to permit airflow between the two areas.

A metal framework was installed between the existing roof trusses and suspended off the ground. A motorised roller shutter with a ventilated curtain was mounted to the metal framework and two swing gates were installed to an existing edge protection rail. An electronic latch was mounted to the swing gates and interlocked with the roller shutter motor. This meant the gates and the roller shutter couldn’t be opened at the same time. Forklifts could now load or remove product through the roller shutter while the swing gates prevented personnel access.
